3 Simple + Healthy DIY Dressings that Wow

3 Simple + Healthy DIY Dressings that Wow

Most bottled dressings are filled with less-than-stellar ingredients like added sugars, ingredients you can't pronounce and refined, junky oils. But DIY-ing your own dressing does not have to be difficult, and we've rounded up three of our absolute favorite simple dressing recipes.

Lemon Tahini Dressing

—via Oh She Glows

We love Angela's Protein Power Goddess bowl recipe, but the real start of the show is the Lemon Tahini dressing. It has only six ingredients but tastes like something you'd get at your favorite restaurant and is packed with healthy, anti-inflammatory fats.

The All-Purpose Vinaigrette

—via a Cup of Jo

This is the dressing you'll always have ingredients on hand for, and can be treated more like a formula. Substitute a flavorful vinegar for the lemon juice and you'll still love the results.

Easy Green Goddess Dressing

—via Minimalist Baker

Slightly more adventurous than the other two, this Green Goddess dressing does require some shopping in advance for the bevy of fresh herbs. But it is worth it! Also makes a great dip for crudité.

All around super-woman Reese Witherspoon shared her favorite green smoothie recipe, which she has had every single morning for the last 9 years—wow! She also shared that she got the recipe from Kerry Washington, after asking her at an awards show how she got her skin so flawless and glowy. Naturally, we had to give it a try.

Reese's Daily Green Smoothie

Yield: 2 servings

2 heads romaine lettuce (yep, two entire heads!)

1/2 cup spinach

1 apple

1 pear

1 banana

1 whole lemon (she chops the rind off)

1/2 cup coconut water

Optional: 1 tablespoon of almond butter, vanilla protein powder

The verdict: We chose to use the optional add-ins, a little blood-sugar balancing protein and fat to round out all of the delicious fruit. We added organic vanilla protein powder and a tablespoon of almond butter. It was delicious! And felt amazing to consume so many whole vegetables and fruits. Fully committed to keeping this going if we start glowing like Reese and Kerry!

Miranda Kerr's Smoothie Secrets

Miranda Kerr's Smoothie Secrets

When glowy Kora Organics skincare founder and model Miranda Kerr shares her morning routine, we listen. Miranda starts her day with warm water with lemon to enhance cleansing and boost her immunity. And she loves a hydrating smoothie for breakfast. Recently, she shared her two favorite smoothie secret weapons: chaga and banana.

Why add these two to your next smoothie?

Chaga is a highly medicinal mushroom that has been used for centuries to help boost immune health. In addition, it has been shown to fight inflammation in the body, help lower blood sugar levels, and may also lower harmful cholesterol levels.

Bananas are a wholefood-way to add a little sweetness and creamy texture to your smoothie (we love freezing them first!) They're also rich in fiber (resistant starch which is great for gut health) and antioxidants.

Miranda's Superfood Green Smoothie

She's also shared her favorite superfood-packed green smoothie recipe which is absolutely delicious and so hydrating. Give it a try!
