What should you mix greens powder with?

What should you mix greens powder with?

If you are already invested in taking a daily greens powder supplement, you're ahead of the game. Your gut health, energy, and immunity levels will thank you! But particularly if it's your first time trying a greens powder, you may be asking what to mix greens powder with to make it taste as palatable as possible.

First, you'll want to make sure the greens powder you select is of the highest quality. Look for the USDA Certified Organic logo on the packaging, which means the entire product has been verified non-GMO and grown without pesticides. You'll also want multiple super greens (we use organic wheat grass, organic alfalfa grass, organic barley grass) as well as sea greens (we use organic spirulina and organic chlorella.)

Next, you'll want to plan on drinking your greens first thing upon waking. If you are new to greens powders, find one that tastes pleasant and prepare a "greens shot." This means using a small amount of liquid (about a cup or 8 oz.) and shaking vigorously (in a mason jar with a lid or a water bottle) or blitzing with a handheld frother.

What Should You Mix Greens Powder with?

Now that we have all that established, back to our original question: "what to mix greens powder with to make it enjoyable?" Here are our five favorite liquids and greens powder combinations.

#1: Chilled Water + Lemon with Greens Powder

Using cold water makes a huge difference. We also love a splash of lemon juice (fresh-squeezed or from concentrate) to add a light acidity and balance out the earthy taste of the greens.

#2: Coconut Water and Greens Powder

Coconut water is a great addition to greens powder as it can aid in hydration and de-bloating, too! As with our water, we prefer our coconut water chilled too.

#3: Fruit Juice and Greens Powder

If juice is a part of your morning routine already (fresh or bottled) than adding greens powder can be a great way to amp up the nutrients. We recommend picking one out with no added sugars.

#4: Almond Milk and Greens Powder

One of our favorite mid-morning or afternoon pick-me-ups is a greens latte. We mix a scoop of Greens Ritual with warmed and/or frothed almond milk (or try an iced latte) and it is delicious! Add a dash of sweetener (like maple syrup or monkfruit) as needed.

#5: A Smoothie with Greens Powder

If you are a fan of smoothies for breakfast, you can also simply add your greens powder in to your favorite recipe. Play with the combinations you like best. Our favorite is one with tropical fruits, like our Supergreen Smoothie
